MJ legacy to live on

Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch could become California's newest state park. California Assemblyman Mike Davis said Tuesday that he believes it's worth studying whether the California Department of Parks and Recreation should take over the Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County. He added fans from around the world would visit Michael Jackson's former estate. Jackson's 2,500-acre property once housed amusement park rides and a zoo with tigers and snakes, but many of the estate's attractions were dismantled or sold after his death in 2009.

SOMEBODY IS AFTER WANDE COAL-MOHITS:

It has come to our notice that a purported nude picture of Wande Coal is being circulated on social networking site, Twiiter and that made him a trending topic yesterday and early hours of today.

Wande is very grateful to those who have shown him love and as well to those who were constructive in their criticisms. He is saying a massive THANK YOU.

We also want to state categorically that there is nothing wrong or to be ashamed about being naked BUT THE PICTURES IN QUESTION ARE NOT THOSE OF WANDE COAL, the multiple Hip Hop World Award winner. That is not him and that can never be him.

It is worthy of note to let you know that the rising star has been a target of orchestrated attacks in past months. Few months ago false reports of him being treated in a psychiatric home were widely circulated even when he was busy performing in shows in Nigeria and around the world.

Later, another report of him slapping a fellow in a club was initiated by some faceless people as well, a report which was false in its entirety.

Last year it was also reported that he slapped 9ice during an argument, a report 9ice himself denied. Now, it is a false naked picture that is being used.

We have reason to believe that the person behind these nude pictures is the same person(s) behind earlier negative and false stories. Therefore, we are no longer taking the matter lightly. Appropriate security agencies have been briefed and investigations are on-going so as to ascertain true identity of the culprit and bring him or her to book.

Wande would also like to appeal to his numerous fans to keep calm and assure them that he won’t stop making good music, love them and keep right in all his doings.

DAGRIN MOVIE IN THE WORKS

A film based on the life of late rapper, Dagrin, is in the works. Titled Ghetto Dreams, the film will chronicle the growing years of Dagrin, his struggles, his rise to fame and his death.

Renowned Director, Lancelot Imasuen has been drafted to be the Director of the film which is being produced by Stingomania Entertainment.

Also a foundation has been set up for the late rapper, The Dagrin Memorial Project. The foundation, amongst other things will ensure that the family Dagrin left behind is catered for and the loss is made more bearable for his family in a tangible measurable manner. The memorial project will also provide a lasting structure and means to encourage upcoming, struggling and budding entertainment stars, while helping talented artistes deal with the different challenges and lack of resources limiting them from fulfilling their potential and set up a foundation to provide assistance for upcoming and struggling musicians with limited means and poor backgrounds to realize their ambition. The foundation will provide help for young musicians in areas of Finance, Training and Mentoring. All these were ideals the late musician stood for.

WHO IS AFTER WANDE COAL?

Several months back, word was all over the place that Wande Coal had run mad and he was recuperating in an imaginary rehab in the US. Wande who was on tour then came back to the country and cleared the air, he successfully rode that wave and soon the rumours died.

Fast forward to last night, nude pics of Wande which were taken while the young man was deep in sleep surfaced on the internet and knowing negativity to attract attention as much as it does, the pictures recorded thousands of comments in just a number of hours.

Some people wanted to know if it was "photoshop", others asked if he was drunk, everyone just seemed to be excited about one thing or the other.

But while all the mockery and giggling are going on, have we asked ourselves if it is a crime to sleep, or sleep naked for that matter? Why would anyone post pictures like that on the internet for the world to see without the person's consent?

We should all take a moment to access this situation again, WANDE COAL is an excellent artiste who like every other public figure is a role model to several people, at the same time, he is human and therefore has a right to sleep with or without clothes however he pleases. As long as he didn't give a consent for the pictures to be posted, it is a rape on his person, what he stands for, his integrity, his privacy and so many other countless things, and as much as he influences the society by entertaining us and being a role model to our kids, its a slap on all our faces.

So instead of marvelling at Wande Coal's nude pictures and debating whether its "photoshop" or real-life, let's fish out the inhumane rapist who has slapped us all in the face by abusing the privacy of our artiste!

PROJECT FAME WEST AFRICA 3 SET TO KICK OFF

The third season of MTN Project Fame West Africa has kicked off. Having launched successfully in 2008 and followed by an even more impressive season 2 in 2009, MTN Project Fame West Africa starts from the lofty heights it stopped last year.

Starting from yesterday 12th July, highlights of the auditions and semi-finals will be shown on air, while the opening gala will be aired on the 18th of July which will see 15 talented individuals enter the Performance Academy where they will be trained by the very best professionals in the music industry on how to compose songs, enhance their stage craft and develop their voices.

According to the producers of the show, Ultima Ltd, “Project Fame West Africa is the only format that takes raw talent into a Performance Academy and over 3 months turns these youngsters into stars.”

Every other week, contestants have the opportunity to show million of viewers what they have learned in the Academy. Based on the performances of the contestants, members of the public cast their votes. The four contestants with the lowest amount of votes are immediately put up for eviction. They have a chance to redeem themselves the following week when they are given another chance to perform. After their performances, the judges, faculty and other contestants save 1 each and the fourth is eliminated.

And that is how the competition goes till the end when the winner is chosen. Unlike most talent competition shows that are rigid in format, MTN Project Fame West Africa is more accommodating when it comes to genres and style of music. That is why the show has four winners- 1 winner and three runners’ up.

Asides from working with great producers, contestants will also have the opportunity to work with international acts and some of Nigeria’s biggest acts. In Season 1, the contestants opened up JT Taylor of Kool and the Gang’s show at Ocean View. In Season 2, the final 5 contestants performed with Blackky, Olu Maintain, Sound Sultan and Lara George at a gala show.

While staying in the academy, the contestants will be visited by Iyanya and Mike Anyasodo, winners of Project Fame season 1 and season 2 respectively. While at the academy they will speak on all they learnt in the Performance Academy, the exposure and the fantastic platform from which they’ve been launched into their careers.

Iyanya and Mike Anyasodo are winners of Project Fame season 1 and season 2 respectively.

Full Biography- Ace Hood

Born Antoine McColister in Port St. Lucie, FL, Ace Hood was raised by his mother in Deerfield Beach, a part of Miami's metro area. Rap music became his full-time obsession after he suffered a football injury in the tenth grade, effectively putting the kibosh on any professional sports career. By age 17, he was recording tracks for local imprint Dollaz & Dealz and had a few street singles put out, including 2006's "M.O.E." (i.e., "Money Over Everything"). In November of the following year, Ace maneuvered his way into meeting DJ Khaled at local radio station 99 Jamz and handed the Miami mixtape DJ his demo. Within a matter of weeks, DJ Khaled signed Ace, then 19 years old, as the first artist to his newly formed We the Best Music, which obtained distribution through Def Jam a few weeks after that. Ace's Def Jam debut single, the Runners-produced "Cash Flow," featuring Rick Ross and ubiquitous hook singer T-Pain, arrived in early 2008 and turned out to be a smash hit on South Florida radio. A few mixtapes and guest appearances later, he released his first full-length, Gutta, in summer 2008. Ruthless followed the next year and, like its predecessor, peaked at number five on Billboard, Rovi

"MY RELATIONSHIP WITH COMMON FAILED" - SERENA WILLIAMS

Serena Williams recently spoke about her failed relationship with rapper Common. They broke up in April. “His schedule is actually worse than mine,” she sighs. “He didn’t want the responsibility. It’s really tough.”

Common then began promoting his latest film, heaping enough praise on Williams that people assumed they were still on. (”Beautiful, intelligent woman, fun and spiritual woman. I think she’s an incredible person,” he [Common] told Access Hollywood.)

Williams looks befuddled — befuddled but coquettish. “So I called him and I was like, Why are you saying all this stuff when we’re not together?”

ON HER PHYSIQUE: “I was 23 when I realized that I wasn’t Venus. She’s totally different,” she explains. “I’m super-curvy. I have big boobs and this massive butt. She’s tall and she’s like a model and she fits everything. I was growing up, wanting to be her, wanting to look like her, and I was always fitting in her clothes, but then one day I couldn’t.” She pauses. “But it’s fine. Now I’m obviously good, but it’s a weird thing.”

CNN HAILS NNEKA as NEXT GLOBAL STAR‏

She may be small in stature, but the soulful voice of singer Nneka Egbuna is anything but.

It is no surprise that the petite Nigerian-born singer-songwriter lists Bob Marley and Nina Simone among her influences. Just as it was for them, Nneka's music "isn't just about the music" -- it's a call for change.

"It's to show the world that people come together for one reason -- in this case music. We are representing that love," Nneka told CNN.

Her music is a celebration of diversity. "We are all different in color, everybody has their own baggage, their own experience, but we have a way to communicate and this is the essence of this tour," she told CNN midway through her Concrete Jungle tour of the United States.

Nneka's musical profile has steadily risen since her 2005 debut album titled "Victim of Truth," -- which was listed as one of the records of the year by Timesonline.co.uk in 2006. In 2009, she won the Best African Act award at the UK's Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards.

Now on her fourth album, Nneka is garnering rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and Billboard magazines, while Spin magazine described her as one of the artists to watch for 2010.

Earlier this year, she performed on the David Letterman show introducing her to a massive U.S. audience.

At times it is easy to mistake her cool and laidback attitude for shyness but get her talking about issues close to her heart and she emerges as a firecracker with a big heart and many passions.

Born to a Nigerian father and German mother, Nneka grew up in her hometown of Warri, Nigeria, before leaving at the age of 19 to study in Germany.

Those years away from home made her examine what it meant to be Nigerian. And in the process, she found herself.

"The period of time that I spent in Germany educated me a lot about being Nigerian. Before, I never really was that conscious of my surrounding, of our politics. I knew that there was something going on, but I never really felt responsible," said Nneka.

Today she is on a crusade to address issues affecting her people -- her haunting cry for peace and love for her motherland written all over her music.

Fans are familiar with the various themes of injustice and oppression that drive her music and performances.

"If you listen to my music, I do have a lot to do, issues that are very delicate to the Nigerian ear, talking about our politics at present, or the corruption, or the oil exploitation in the Niger Delta," said the singer who is from the troubled region.

Nneka equates her time away from Nigeria as a "personal pilgrimage," one which led her to an accidental musical career, something she admits she "slipped into."

"It used to be something I did as a kind of a therapy especially when I was living in Germany and never had anything to do with this part of my heritage," she said.

Getting to know a society with "a totally different mentality" forced her to discover her passion. "That is how music found me, or the other way round," she told CNN.

With her growing universal appeal, Nneka has now assumed the responsibility of a continent on her tiny shoulders.

"I see myself having a voice that would represent the people who do not have the courage to speak their minds or to allow the world outside to see and recognize what is happening within Nigeria, within Africa," she said.

However, she knows change isn't immediate but it is coming -- if we all play our part. "I see light," she says. "As long as we are part of the change that we want, then things will change."
